“In token of the good relations that Portugal and the Union South Africa have enjoyed for the past 50 years, and of the continuation of a friendship that dates from the early days of the Transvaal Republic, Admiral M. M. Sarmento Rodrigues, Comanding Office of the Lisbon Naval School, has proposed that his School dedicate to her South African colleague, S. A. S. Saldanha, a biographical sketch of Antonio Saldanha, the discoverer of Table Bay, originally called Saldanha Bay. The Centro de Estudos Históricos Ultramarinos, founded five years ago by Admiral Sarmento Rodrigues, has offered to take part in this initiative by publishing an English version of the work (...)”
