“I have been asked to write a small, popular book on the experimental psychology of handwriting, omitting the polysyllabes, which, I am told, make my own works such heavy going for general reader. But I have always been afraid of various difficulties which, to my mind, appeared unsurmountable. Happily they have not proved so for  Mr. Brooks. In a popular textbook all controversial matters must be avoid and the technicalities reduced to the plianest possible terms. In both these points Mr. Brooks has succeded admirably. He has also included those types of handwriting which require a much more thorough knowledge for their analysis (...)”.
